FULTON -- A Fulton man has been sentenced to 40 hours of community service and restitution for vandalizing the Churchill Memorial and four other properties.

Victor Calderon, 25, pleaded guilty Friday to reduced charges, in a vandalism spree which included the Churchill statue, the neighboring church and section of the Berlin wall.

Callaway County Circuit Court Judge Carol England followed the prosecution's recommendation and sentenced Calderon to six months in Callaway County Jail on each of five counts of property damage in the second degree.

The sentence was suspended and Calderon was placed on two years of unsupervised probation.

Prosecutors said the damage to the Churchill Memorial was just under $4,500, they haven't determined the damage total for vandalism at Fulton businesses, a skate park and the William Woods University campus.
