MILLER COUNTY -- The mother of a baby who was found beaten last month in Eldon will be in court today before a Miller County judge.

The Miller County prosecutor charged Jessica and Christopher Blood with felony child abuse last month after their six-week-old son, Ryan, was brought to the hospital with a broken leg.

Doctors quickly discovered the baby had more injuries, including broken ribs, a second broken leg, and a broken arm.

Court documents indicate the couple confessed they had gripped Ryan's body tightly in an effort to get him to stop crying.

The couple was living at a house with Jessica's mother, who investigators say made the couple take the infant to the hospital.

Jessica did get rid of him as soon as she found out he did hurt Ryan. She is divorcing him now. She took the baby to the hospital as soon as she realized the baby was hurt. He then admitted to hurting Ryan. She hasn't spoken to Chris since this happened except via her lawyer and third parties to state she wants nothing to do with him and that she is seeking a divorce.

May Justice Prevail?

As a mother it was Jessica's duty to protect her child from such horrific abuse. Do you seriously think she's innocent because she may not have inflicted the abuse? Regardless of our court system and what penalties may be enforced to the mother and father, That child will be haunted by what happened to him for the rest of his life. Thanks to a weak, selfish woman who allowed it.

Why?

If Jessica thought the guy was hurting the baby, why did she and her mother still allow him to be around the baby? Geez.. if you think someone is hurting an infant or is hurting you, don't wait around to get rid of them. Oh and women, if a guy hits you.. don't believe the "I'm sorry it will never happen again" line. It WILL happen again, you just may never get another chance to walk out of there alive.. so protect yourself and your kids.

May justice prevail

Jessica still maintains that she did not injure Ryan and that she never told investigators that SHE gripped him too tight. She also maintains that SHE took Ryan to the hospital because she was afraid Chris may have injured the baby. If she is innocent, may the truth come out.
