OSAGE COUNTY -- The Osage County Sheriff’s Department and the Missouri Highway Patrol busted a meth lab last Wednesday after a search of a Chamois residence.
After an investigation, police had names of several suspects. One of which, Jason D. Brooks, 32, of Charlevoix, Mich., was seen driving after the search.
Brooks was taken into custody after a short vehicle pursuit. Brooks fled when police attempted to pull him over. After a six mile pursuit, the suspect fled on foot and was found in the bushes.
Authorities found over 100 gallons of anhydrous ammonia, muratic acid, and other methamphetamine precursors along with a number of items of drug paraphernalia in the search of the residence. The 100 gallons of anhydrous ammonia can help make up to 25 pounds of meth.
Brooks is charged with resisting arrest, assault on a law enforcement officer, and felony property damage. He is currently being held in the Miller County Jail on $30,000 bond.
Police arrested Heather R. Kibbe, 29, formerly of Chamois, a short time after the vehicle pursuit. Police later learned that Kibbe was a passenger in the car before the pursuit and was found in possession of pseudoephedrine pills and hypodermic needles. Kibbe was wanted on a felony warrant out of Cole County and was later transferred to their custody.
