VIENNA -- A southwest Missouri fugitive is behind bars this morning after a routine traffic stop on Highway 63 in Vienna.

Vienna police say Danny Dumas, 35, of Willow Springs, Mo. had tried to use false information about his identity, but was not able to keep the names and dates of his family members straight. He was taken into custody where police determined his true identity.

Dumas, a convicted felon, had escaped from the Kansas City Community Release Center where he was serving a sentence for endangering the welfare of a child.

He's also a fugitive from Mississippi for vehicle theft and a registered sex offender from a case involving a five-year-old girl.

He has more charges pending through Maries County.
