EMINENCE -- There is a place in Missouri where you can fly and you don’t need any wings.

It’s one of the few zipline attractions in the United States and the only one in Missouri. People from 27 different states have made the trip to Eminence, Missouri to ride the Eagle Falls Ranch Zipline. For less than $50, you can harness up and soar through the air on a series of 5 cables mounted to trees in an Ozark forest.

“It was great fun," Zipline rider George Smith said. "It was big fun. I enjoyed it a lot. I really did.”

“It was just all good," George’s wife Kay Smith said. "I like going fast. You could go fast.”

The zipline gives you the feeling of a high place with lots speed without the feeling of falling. You know you’re safe because of your harness that’s attached to not only to one cable but two.

Before your adventure begins, you have to know what you’re doing. That’s why you need to go to zipline ground school. Zipline guides explain how you can steer and stop yourself before you take that first big leap.

“It’s a great adrenaline rush," Zipline guide Zack Martin said. "It’s like jumping off a cliff into a river or anything that gets your heart pumping. It’s like a rollercoaster ride, but you are in control.”

Part of your adventure includes walking on rope bridges to get to your zipline cables. Throughout the entire experience your harness is always connected for safety.

“We’ve had children as young as 7 and a gentleman as old as 83," Zipline guide Wendi Caillouet said. "It’s pretty much fun for all ages. It really is.”

Zipline owner Shawn Nye started his business 12 weeks ago and has already served more than 3,000 customers.

"If you can’t ride a rollercoaster, if you can’t ride a Ferris wheel, if you can’t parasail, then you probably can’t do this," Nye said. "If you can do those things, you can do this and you will have a better time at it.”

Eagle Falls Ranch Zipline Canopy Adventure Tours in Eminence is about a 2 1/2 hour drive from Jefferson City.
