CAMDEN COUNTY -- Results are in for Camden County’s special election.
Voters in the lake area have voted down a tax levy for the Stoutland R2 school district. The measure asked for a 76 cent increase to the property tax levy, to $3.51 per $100 assessed valuation.
The money would go to the operating budget, but voters said no by a two-to-one margin. The current levy sits at $2.75 per $100 valuation.
In a separate issue, voters overwhelmingly approved the removal of the director the northwest fire protection district. The final count on that vote was 190 yes and 17 no.
