Columbia man killed in car crash

PARIS -- A Columbia man was killed in a car crash Tuesday morning.

Gerald Lewis , 63, was involved in a head on collision when Patsy Rice, 44, of Palmyra, Mo. crossed the centerline of US 24, east of Paris, Mo.

Rice, driving westbound on the eastbound lane, hit a car, causing minor damage, and then continued to drive until colliding with Lewis’s car.

Rice was transported to Moberly Regional Hospital with serious injuries.

Lewis was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash. His next of kin was notified and his body was taken to Garner Funeral Home in Monroe County.
