Sobriety checkpoint leads to 19 arrests

BOONE COUNTY -- The Boone County Sheriff's Department has made 19 arrests during a sobriety checkpoint.

The checkpoint was on Highway 763 North at Brown School Road in Columbia. The operation happened from 11 p.m. last night until 2:30 a.m. this morning.

The joint effort of the Boone County Sheriff's, Columbia, Hallsville, University of Missouri Police and Highway Patrol lead to, eight  arrests for driving while intoxicated, six arrests for driving with a suspended or revoked license, three arrests for outstanding warrants, and two arrests for adult liquor law violations.

Several warnings were also issued for vehicle violations.

The sheriff’s department said 420 vehicles were checked.
