JEFFERSON CITY -- Nearly a dozens contestants competed in a "Missouri Missouri" pageant today at the Capital Mall in Jefferson City.

The Missouri Health Care Association District Seven pageant had contestants from senior centers, such as Katy Manor in Pilot Grove, Oak Tree Villas and Villa Marie in Jefferson City and Miller County Care and Rehab Center in Tuscumbia.

"I hope I do [win], for the home's sake,” Miller County contestant Anne Roper said. “I want them to have a name, for people to know that's where I'm from and its a good place to be."

"Yeah, there's no swimsuit competition; that's obvious,” Missouri Health Care Association’s Jon Dolan said. “Gravity kills us all.  But I will tell you that these ladies lives are more beautiful and ageless than any physical beauty pageant could ever imagine."

Unfortunately for Anne, she did not take home the top prize.

Margaret "Peg" Carbee from the Westphalia Retirement Center was crowned pageant queen. She will move on to compete in the state pageant in Kansas City in late August.
