MONTGOMERY COUNTY -- Heavy rains have forced the closing of a section of Interstate 70 and several other state roads.

The Missouri Highway Patrol said I-70 in Montgomery County at mile marker 181 near the Jonesburg exit was closed Monday morning because of high water.

Crews were on scene Monday morning detouring vehicles. MoDOT says a common detour along Route 19 is also closed because of flooding.

MoDOT message boards are activated all over the state.

Other state roads also closed Monday are in Holt and DeKalb counties in northwest Missouri, and Highway U in Pulaski county.
