JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (AP) -- The Missouri House has voted to lift a ban on carrying concealed weapons at state colleges and universities.

On a vote of 106-41 yesterday, the House approved an amendment rolling back the existing prohibition. The ban is part of the Missouri law allowing qualified citizens to receive permits for carrying concealed weapons.

The amendment was added to a bill lowering the minimum age for getting a concealed-carry permit to 21. It's now 23.

Republican Brian Munzlinger of Williamstown sponsored the measure allowing concealed weapons at public colleges. Munzlinger says it would improve school safety because people seeking to cause harm sometimes target gun-free zones.

But Democrat Chris Kelly of Columbia says no good can come from mixing guns with college dormitories and fraternity houses.

Everyone need to look at what the conceal and carry has done since implemented. In Texas murder rate fell 50% faster than the national average the year after their law passed. Approximately 95 % of the time police arrive too late to prevent a crime or arrest. Has any looked at how many if any conceal and carry permittes have comitted a vilent crime? national? and Missouri?

concealed carry on campus

It is proven fact that more wrong shootings are done by police than by legal concealed carry licence holders nationwide. When you have a guns free zone such as a college campus you have a place where a crazy gunman can go his thing without fear of anyone stopping him. As was stated in an eaqrlier comment concealed carry does not start blood running in the streets but has just the oppisite effect. There is an old saying and it is very true, an armed society is a polite society. When you have very restrictive gun laws you wind up with a society like Germany in the 30s and 40s when Hilter came to power and seized all guns owned by the general poplation fot protection. A government should be very leary of an armed populace because they cannot be taken over by the governments such as Germany in World War II. These are all things that can be proved without a doubt and debunk all of the anti-gun extremists babble.

Utah has allowed CPL holders to carry on campus for many years and no "grat harm" or anything of the sort has happened. The only result is safer schools!

Anti Gun groups said blood would be in the streets when Concealed Carry was first legalized. It has been PROVEN to lower crime. Once again you were wrong.

You logic is flawed, been proven wrong. You have been judged and found wanting.

Are you insane????

Do you have any data to back up your emotional claim. I mean I do. Many students have died in colleges you moron because they weren't armed. I hope you're hit by a truck tomorrow. People like you with your ignorant and ridiculous spouting make the world more dangerous.

Concealed Weapons on Campus?

I agree with Chris Kelly, no good can come out of allowing concealed weapons on College Campuses. Public and personal safety is or should be a concern for everyone. Let's leave the heat packing to those who are professionally trained--LAW ENFORCEMENT.
