Motorists will soon be using the new interchange at U.S. Route 50/63 and City View Drive in Jefferson City. Officials will cut the ribbon on the $15 million project on Thursday, at 10 a.m.

The interchange will be open to traffic later that day. The ribbon-cutting ceremony will take place on the new interchange bridge and parking is available at the new Wal-Mart location. A skyview image of the new interchange is available.

The project to construct a new interchange is a joint effort between the City of Jefferson, Cole County, the Missouri Department of Transportation and the U.S. Highway 50/63 and City View Transportation.

The Missouri Department of Transportation will also conduct an industry review meeting on Thursday,  to describe the goals and conditions of its Safe & Sound design-build project to replace more than 550 of the state's lowest-rated bridges, and to answer questions from contractors and engineers.

MoDOT plans to issue a Request for Qualifications prior to the meeting.

The meeting will be held from 10 a.m. to noon, in room 450 of the Governor's Office Building (200 Madison Street, Jefferson City, MO.)

State, county and local leaders will join Missouri Department of Corrections Director Larry Crawford Thursday at 10 a.m., for a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the Fulton Community Supervision Center (CSC).  The site is at 1397 Highway O.

Crawford, Missouri Probation and Parole (P&P) District 26 Administrator Karen Dungan, and State Representative Danielle "Danie" Moore (20th District), among others, will speak at the event.

It is estimated that each year in the United States more than 20,000 children younger than five years old are hospitalized due to the flu. To help keep Boone County children protected, the Columbia/Boone County Department of Public Health and Human Services clinic is hosting its first ‘Say "Boo" to the Flu!’ event Thursday from 2 to 6 p.m. at the health department clinic, (1005 West Worley, Columbia.)

‘Say "Boo" to the Flu!’ will give busy families an easy way to scare away the flu virus in October, before flu season peaks. The Halloween-themed event will offer face-painting and treats for kids, and adults who come in costume!

The vaccine is offered free to Medicaid and Medicare recipients and can be purchased by others for $20. The health department accepts cash, check or credit cards. For faster service, people can fill out the required consent forms prior to arrival. Download a form here.
