COLUMBIA, MO -- Three air carriers met Friday's deadline to submit proposals to maintain commercial air service in the Heart of Missouri. Earlier this year, Air Midwest announced plans to end federally-subsidized air service to Columbia Regional Airport. Great Lakes Aviation proposes to provide four daily round-trip flights from Columbia to KC. Hawaii island Air would offer two to three flights to Kansas City most days and touts ticketing agreements with both United and Continental Airlines. Doing business as "Northwest Airlink", Mesaba Airlines would provide two to three round-trip flights to Northwest's hub in Memphis. Air Midwest will continue it's service to Columbia Regional until a new carrier is selected. There is no timetable for that decision.
Here is a link to all three of the proposals, including what they would cost the traveling public.
