COLUMBIA -- This week marks the five-year anniversary of the war in Iraq.
To mark the occasion, activists gathered in Columbia to call for an end to the war.
Call it peace on parade.
"I’m just here to pledge my support for America and for the peace efforts and for world peace." Said Carl Franzen, Columbia resident.
Well over one thousand people gathered Sunday afternoon in Columbia’s courthouse square.
The Columbia peace coalition organized the rally and march and say it's just one of hundreds going on across the nation this weekend.
"We're hoping to raise awareness too, and just send our voice out there and the message that Columbia is not okay with this, and that we're strong in our beliefs." Said Jesica Poell, Student.
The rally featured musicians, and speakers.
They all supporting an end to the war in Iraq and for no us involvement in Iran.
Sunday's rally is the biggest event the Columbia peace coalition puts on all year.
There were no counter protests during the rally.
