Two Jefferson City men were arrested on suspicion of vandalism.

Early Friday morning, police were dispatched to the 100 block of East High Street for a suspicious activity call.

A witness called police after he saw the two men vandalizing street signs and mailboxes in the area.

Officers quickly arrived and approached the suspects. The witness identified the two as the vandals and police arrested 24-year-old Derek Schlueter and 21-year-old Carson Lako.

After searching the suspects, police found stickers and permanent markers used to deface property.

In Schlueter’s car police found stolen street signs, marked Police Department traffiic cones, a small amount of marijuana, marijuana smoking materials and multiple cans of spray paint.

Schlueter is charged with second-degree property damage, two counts of receiving stolen property, possession of marijuana (less than 35 grams) and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Lako is charges with second-degree property damage.
