A warrant for arrest has been issued for a Boone County man after he allegedly assaulted a pregnant woman and then barricaded himself inside his residence with a weapon.

Stephen Mitchell, 24, is wanted for second degree domestic assault.

Police were dispatched to 1427 Bodie Drive around 1 a.m. Monday for a domestic disturbance.

A female victim, two young children and Mitchell's brother were able to escape the house, at which time Mitchell locked himself inside with a weapon.

Police said he did not point the weapon at any of the victim's and did not threaten to harm anyone but himself.

Based on information provided by the victims, police determined Mitchell did not pose an immediate threat to the public so they cleared the area and left the residence around 4:45 a.m.
