ROLLA, MO -- The controversial Westboro Baptist Church did not show up at a tornado victim’s funeral Thursday afternoon, but it is threatening to do so at two other funerals Friday.
Ethel Price died in her mobile home near Rolla in the New Year’s Eve storm.
The church posted on its website that it would protest Price’s funeral in Newburg, Misssouri. However, KRCG contacted the funeral home and the Phelps County Sheriff Department and both said the protestors did not show.
Deputies were on hand Thursday just in case.
The church believes tragedies like the tornadoes that killed 6 people in Missouri are God’s punishment on Americans for accepting homosexuality.
