Update: Tuesday, April 20 at 5:44 p.m.

A jury has recommended the maximum sentences for a 47-year-old western Missouri man convicted in the death of one of four babies he fathered with his daughter.

The Cass County jury deliberated less than three hours Tuesday before convicting the man of second-degree murder, incest, statutory rape, child endangerment and abandonment of a corpse.

After more deliberation, the jury recommended maximum sentences on all counts, including life in prison for the murder charge. The judge scheduled sentencing for June 7.

Evidence in the two-day trial included extensive testimony from the now 20-year-old daughter, who said her father began molesting her when she was 5 years old. The man is not being named by The Associated Press to protect the identity of the daughter.

Original Story:

A Missouri man accused of impregnating his daughter four times has been found guilty of second-degree murder.

Jurors took less than three hours to convict 47-year-old Danial Rinehart.

The murder charge stems from the death of one of four babies Rinehart is accused of siring with his daughter, who is now 20.

Prosecutors said Rinehart refused to get the child medical attention.

The baby's remains were put in a plastic container and sealed inside a cooler.

The daughter testified tearfully about giving birth to four babies, three of whom died.

She said her father first started having sexual contact with her when she was only five.

Rinehart said during his interrogation that he felt his daughter wanted to have sex with him.

Rinehart was also found guilty of incest and rape.
