BENTON, Mo. (AP) -- The oldest daughter of the late Missouri Gov. Warren Hearnes has died in a single-vehicle crash in the Bootheel.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says that 60-year-old attorney Lynn Cooper Hearnes was thrown from her sport utility vehicle when it ran off the road and overturned around 9:30 a.m. Thursday.

The accident happened about seven miles south of the Scott County town of Benton on Missouri 77, a two-lane highway.

Hearnes lived and practiced law in St. Louis County. Her mother, former state Rep. Betty Hearnes, told the St. Louis Post-Dispatch her daughter had been driving to the family home in Charleston for a New Year's visit.

Warren Hearnes served as governor from 1965 to 1973. He died in August 2009 at the age of 86.
