Darrell L. Butcher, Sr., 72, of Fulton, Missouri passed away at Boone Hospital Center in Columbia, Missouri on Wednesday, October 28, 2009. He was born August 7, 1937 in Fulton, Missouri the son of the late Milford and Opal (Bennett) Butcher. He was united in marriage to Mary Ann (Kanatzar) Butcher who survives at their home.
In addition to his wife, he will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by two sons, Charles and his wife, Cathy, of Raytown, Missouri, and Timothy of Whitewater, Wisconsin; two daughters, Tamula Baker and her husband, Glen, of Lockport, Illinois and Cherryll Mann and her husband, Phil, of Shenandoah, Iowa; fourteen grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; other relatives and many dear friends. One daughter, Judy Burkhart, one son, Darrell Butcher, Jr., one grandson, Joshua Burkhart, his parents, Milford and Opal Butcher, two brothers, Donald Butcher and Gerrold Butcher, two sisters, Helen Butcher and Dorothy Butcher, and his grandparents, preceded him in death.
Darrell graduated from Lexington High School in Lexington, Kentucky and graduated from Southwest Missouri State with a Bachelor of Science Degree in History. He was a retired engineer from General Electric Nuclear Division after twenty-five years of service. He served our country in the United States Air Force. He served as President of the Whitewater Lion’s Club in Whitewater, Wisconsin, the Exulted Ruler of Elk’s Lodge #1291 in Lakeland, Florida, he was elected township supervisor serving three terms in Whitewater, Wisconsin. He was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church in Fulton, Missouri. He was very dedicated to his family and was very active in his children and grandchildren’s lives.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m. on Monday, November 2, 2009 at St. Peter Catholic Church with Father Karl Barmann officiating. Visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Sunday, November 1, 2009 at Maupin Funeral Home in Fulton, Missouri. He will be cremated and graveside services will be held at a later date.
