Shelley Richter will go to trial in September.

COLE COUNTY, MO -- A Cole County woman accused of shaking a baby in August 2010 will go to trial two years after the alleged incident happened.

Shelley Richter’s lawyer appeared in court for her scheduled hearing on Wednesday. She’s charged with 1st degree endangering the welfare of a child and abuse of a child causing serious emotional injury.

A grand jury charged the Taos woman with hitting and shaking 7-month-old Lane Schaeffer. Richter said she dropped the baby on a concrete floor after tripping over another child at her home daycare. However, doctors testified the baby’s injuries were consistent with shaken baby syndrome and Lane might not ever see again.

On Wednesday, Judge Patricia Joyce scheduled Richter’s jury trial for three days, lasting from September 12-14 this year.

This is the third time a judge has set a trial date for Richter.
