This was part of the trust training... get your dog comfy with his belly exposed to other dogs and people.

Milo is officially an obedience school graduate. Is he a perfect, well-behaved, listens-all-the-time dog now... heck no!

We didn't expect him to come out of school perfectly trained. We were just hoping for some improvements in his lack of attention, and I can say he is getting better.

Since we paid for the first round of classes, the place we take him to will let us keep taking classes free of charge (very nice of them!). I'm not sure if we'll be able to get him there every week, but any little bit helps.

Milo is still working on learning how to "heel" and "stay." He's so easily distracted though! Whether it's the puppy or beagle in him, I don't know.

Milo is about 9-10 months old now (he's growing up so fast!), and I can tell that he's maturing. A trip to the dog park clued me in to that fact.

I wrote a blog months ago about his first and second trips to the dog park. Back then he was more interested in humans than hounds. Instead of playing with the other dogs, he would go straight to their owners for love and affection. Not so this most recent trip.

We went to Twin Lakes in Columbia on Saturday. Throughout our hour there, about a dozen different dogs came and went. However, not once did Milo seek the affection of any people.

He played with his fellow pups the entire time. I was so proud!

However, a little part of me was sad because one of my favorite things about Milo is how people-friendly he is. Don't get me wrong, he still loves to say "hi, how ya doin" when someone walks by, but I also liked how he would seek attention from people when other dogs were around. Can't have it both ways I guess!

How well trained is your pet? Milo knows to ring the bell when he wants to go outside and he also knows to "get down" off the furniture. As far as tricks go, Milo can sit, shake, shake the other paw, lay down, and roll over. However, he has some issues doing those out of order, and he tends to go on to the next trick without us asking. We're still working on it!

Is your pet well-trained? Did you take him or her to obedience classes? Does your pet know some cool tricks?
