JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. -- Many locally-owned shops in mid-Missouri do not sell online, and told us pulling in online sales is not crucial for them.

Instead, owners tell us their business is based on what they do best year-round, helping customers make a decision after...they first examine the merchandise up close.

"They want to come in here and they want to touch and feel it, and see it in person," said Carrie Carroll of Carrie's Hallmark Shop in Jefferson City. "There's really nothing that can compare to that. you can't get that feel from the internet. You can't just pull something up online and get the personalized service that you're going to get in here."

Carroll and many other small business owners say they saw good sales last weekend on "Small Business Saturday."

They say it shows they are that they're still a valuable part of the shopping community.
