COLUMBIA, MO. -- Power outages in Boone County caused by Tuesday's winter storm could continue through the night. Those without power can stay at an overnight shelter opening in Columbia at 8 p.m. at Broadway Christian Church (2601 West Broadway).

The mid-Missouri Chapter of the American Red Cross is working with church members to open the shelter during the overnight hours. Cots, blankets and pillows will be available, as will limited food. Those with special dietary considerations should pack accordingly.

You do not need to call and register before going to the shelter.

If staying at the shelter, bring any personal items you may need overnight. For example - medications, diapers, formula, a change of clothing, cell phone, etc.
