(AP) -- A southeast Missouri woman who admitted selling prescription pain pills from her day care center has been ordered to spend four months in jail.

The Southeast Missourian reports that 37-year-old Keisha McReynolds will be released on probation if she successfully completes the 120 days of shock time she received at her sentencing Monday.

McReynolds pleaded guilty in December to selling the pain pills to a confidential drug task force informant at her day care center, Beautiful Beginnings Childcare of Cape Girardeau.

Defense lawyer Malcolm Montgomery argued Monday for probation without jail time. Montgomery acknowledged that McReynolds should not have sold the 16 hydrocodone pills, but he noted they had been prescribed for her rather than obtained illegally.

Missouri authorities closed the day care center after the allegations surfaced last fall.
