You know it's summer when lines start forming at the ice cream shops in town.

For the start of this summer, one local store has decided to kick it off with a bang, as they went for a world record.

Andy's Frozen Custard on North Cooper in Columbia attempted to “knock ice cream off it's cone” and take its place in the Guinness book of world records this afternoon.

"We have always felt that we are world-class with our frozen custard, you know, a completely different caliber than ice cream. And this year we wanted to prove it, by breaking the world record for the longest chain of people in line eating ice cream," said Carolyn Handtke with the Andy's store.

The bad news: they didn't beat the record because they Guinness said ice cream and frozen custard are very different from one another.

The good news: they did set a brand new world record for the having the longest line of people eating frozen custard at one time.
