SEDALIA -- Thousands came out Friday night to see the rock band Shinedown perform at the Missouri State Fair.
People from all over the Mid West came out for the nearly sold out show.
As the State Fair approaches it's final weekend people of all ages came out to see one of its biggest shows.
Another rock band Rev Theory, opened the show for Shinedown. The two bands attracted 8,085 people.
"This entire state has been like so genuine with this we call Shinedown," said singer Brent Smith. "That its pretty amazing. They're true, true music fans and they definitely know how to throw down.
Mostly touring the nation's bigger cities, Shinedown also says they appreciate the more rural areas…like mid-Missouri.
"I think the biggest thing about this area that we're in up here is that these are hard working people," said Smith.
The band was arguably one of the fair's biggest attractions.
One Indiana man came with his son to see both bands. But of course fans from the Heart of Missouri attended the rock show.
Heath Scott of Jefferson City was excited while he stood in line. "I am here to see Shinedown. I've been a fan since they came out in '03."
Another three girls, two from Cole Camp and one from Sedalia came to see Shinedown.
The band is just as dedicated to they're fans.
"We only have one boss and it just happens to be everyone in the audience, said Smith."
But the Florida based rockers say there dedicated followers didn't happen over night.
"We've been playing our whole lives and struggling to get where we're at," said drummer Barry Kerch. "Professionally with Shinedown it's only been eight years, but we've all professional musicians and been doing it out whole lives."
Shinedown will continue touring this fall, even playing shows in Europe. Saturday night the Brooks & Dunn and Jamey Johnson concert goes on. The show is sold out.
