There are many health problems that are associated with mold growth that as a homeowner you may not even know exists. Mold is a fungus that causes a lot of people to get sick and they spend most of their time in and out the doctor's office.
Mold can spread all over the house before it is finally found. Mold has a musty odor to it. Once you find out you have mold call someone who specializes in the removal of mold. This could get very costly if it's been there for awhile.
There are a few simple things that you can do to prevent the growth and spread of mold and avoid the possible illnesses associated with it.
If there are any wet areas in your home try keeping them as dry as possible. Mold will grow where it is damp and wet.
All faucets must be working properly with no leaks underneath the cabinets. If the right bolts and the rights joints are the ones that fit there shouldn't be any leaking going on. My husband is always trying to rig things up but do not do this. It could cost a lot in the long run.
Keep all showers and tubs cleaned out after each use. Spray the tub and shower with bleach and water. Mold hates bleach. Mold likes to grow in bathrooms because it is wet and damp. Keep these rooms especially clean every day.
The exhaust fans can be used but for only short periods at a time. Never leave the exhaust fans on and leave the house because I have known several apartment homes have caught fire because the exhaust fans needed replacing. Ask someone who knows about exhaust fans how often they should be replaced. My house has had the same one in for a while now. I also need to check on this.
