Business Type:

Our vision for creative mailbox planters developed after many years in the garden center business teaching gardening enthusiasts how to create a landscape of color around their homes. As container gardening became a very easy and popular way to take color anywhere, we decided that the standard T-1 mailbox placed in front of most homes was needing to be re-addressed in a "chic" smart and stylish way that would allow the homeowner the ability to customize, use their imagination and show off their green thumb all season long. We hope that our unique container will bring out the creative muse that is within all of us and will help to bring a smile to your community and neighborhood.

Most plants, especially modern varieties, will pull more fertilizer molecules out of the ground than what is naturally resupplied.
Questions & Answers
Question
Is it hard to maintain plants in a Creative Mailbox?
Answer

Your annual precipitation will help determine the best type of soilless potting mix for your mailbox planter. For wet to average rainfall, we recommend a mix that "does not" contain polymers as it may retain too much moisture and cause root rot and fungal problems. Miracle-Gro Potting Mix is a soilless mix that does not contain polymers, but does contain slow release fertilizer for easy care during the growing season. For drier climates, we recommend Miracle-Gro with Moisture Control or Pro-Mix Ultimate Container Mix. These mixes contain a water-saving gel or additives to hold extra water and reduce watering frequency. They also contain continuous feeding with slow release fertilizers. A weekly feeding of Miracle-Gro Bloom Booster will give your flowers the additional nutrients to encourage many larger blooms. All readily available at garden centers, home-improvement and discount stores.

Choosing plants with a cascading growth habit or shorter 4”-6” height varieties will work best in your planter. There are many choices with new varieties becoming available every year. Read labels for specifications and light requirements. For most common insect problems the use of SAFER Brand Insecticidal Soap is recommended.

Keep mailbox door free of growth by pinching back stems. Pinching will also encourage a fuller more compact growth habit.

In colder climates you may find it necessary to remove your planter after the holidays until spring. A cleaning with a hot solution of mild dish soap and bleach will do the job.

All other optional accessories are available thru various stores and on-line outlets.

Question
What plants do you recommend for my Creative Mailbox?
Answer

Depending on your time and green thumb, artificial flowers can be used for easy care. Using 2/florist foam bricks per side (hot glued end to end) will work perfectly.

Spring
Dianthus
Lobelia
Pansy & Viola
Dwarf Snapdragon

Summer
Dwarf Ageratum
Sweet Allyssum
Bacopa
Begonia

Ivy Geranium
Dwarf Marigold
Verbena
Dwarf Zinnia
Mediterranean Cascading Vinca

Cacti & Succulents
Herbs & Ornamentals

Fall & Winter
Use 4" potted mums and fall foliage if desired for the fall holidays. Plant into a flower bed after blooms fade and move into the Christmas holidays with fresh evergreens and berries. Artificial greens and ornaments can be used in warmer, drier climates unless weather resistant. LED Christmas lights can now be found for that added holiday sparkle to your mailbox.

Question
Is the Creative Mailbox customizable?
Answer
Our mailbox planter is designed with a patent and patent pending to simply slip over the existing standard #T-1 Solar Group Elite, or Premium mailbox with attachment. Available at home improvement, hardware or discount stores nationwide and can be customized with paint.

Available in white only to allow you the ability to customize with paints including the mailbox if desired. The recommended paints are Krylon Fusion, Valspar or RustOleum Universal paints for plastic or a clear plastic primer spray (Valspar, RustOleum or Do It Best) along with any spray paint of your choosing. The roof and planter base separate for a 2-color painting option. If choosing to leave your mailbox planter white, we recommend a finish for easier cleaning with a white paint or Krylon Clear Fusion. Use your imagination and artistic talents to express your style. The possibilities are endless. Please follow directions on the paint container.
Question
Where is Creative Mailbox made?
Answer
Proudly made in the U.S.A. by one of the nation's top rated rotational mold manufacturers of eco-friendly high-density polyethylene with uv/stabilizers and proper drainage holes for healthy growing conditions. The heavy duty long life construction of this planter is impervious to rot and insects and will be a great addition to your home for years to come.
Question
