Be aware that most cemeteries have rules and guidelines determining style, size color, finish, etc. for monuments.
Meet the Team
Kevin and Lisa McClary, Owners
Kevin McClary, a Boonville native whose family has lived in Cooper County for over 150 years, has been designing and building memorials since 2002. He appreciates the opportunity to craft something so personal and important to people and takes this responsibility very seriously. Lisa McClary, a transplanted Buckeye, manages the office. She also works for the Boonville Tourism Commission. Kevin enjoys woodworking, playing music, and camping. Lisa is an avid quilter who also loves taking care of her barnyard full of heritage breed livestock. When they’re not at the shop, they like to hang out at home with their kids. Exciting, huh?
Questions & Answers
Question
What should I consider when creating a monument?
Answer

Several things should be considered when creating a monument including:

Size
Monument are measured by width, depth, and height. Many of the monuments you see are usually 2-3 feet wide, 1.5-2 feet high, and either 6 or 8 inches deep. However, granite can be shaped and carved to your specifications. The only limits are cemetery regulations and, of course, price.

Style
Standard styles of monuments include upright, slant, bevel, and flush markers. Granite can be shaped in just about any shape that suits you.

Finish
Finish, or polish, refers to how many sides of the monument are polished smooth. When more sides are polished, the price increases. However, monuments that are polished on the top or the top and sides look better (to many people) and are easier to keep clean (for all people!). Whether or not to polish the top, or the top and sides, is personal preference.

Color
There are many colors of granite. If you’re not matching an existing monument, you could visit cemeteries or stop into our showroom for color ideas (or click on the Color tab). Granite prices vary based on rarity, demand, and where they are quarried.

Design
Deciding on a monument isn’t easy! We are happy to take the time to help you get the monument you want. We will work with you to create a personalized design that reflects the individual being memorialized.

Question
Do I need to consider Cemetery Regulations?
Answer
Finding out what your cemetery will and won’t allow is the first step. Some cemeteries won’t allow upright monuments; others won’t allow in-ground vases. This is something we can help you find out if you’re not sure.
Question
This process can be expensive; can you stay within my budget?
Answer

Our goal is to create a memorial that works for you—and your budget. We have the experience to create a beautiful memorial within any price range. Please see the FAQ link for pricing examples.

Pricing includes the monument itself, the design process, the basic lettering and carving on one side of the monument, and installation in the cemetery.

Other charges include sales tax, foundation fee (either ours or the cemetery’s), laser etching, engraving the back side of a monument, bronze plaques, and other decorative items (porcelain photographs, vases, and statuary).

Question
Do you require full payment when the monument is ordered?
Answer
You have the option of paying the entire amount or half the amount when ordering. If you choose to pay half, we will contact you when the monument is ready to be installed. The balance is due when the monument is set.
Question
How long will it take for my monument to be set once it’s ordered?
Answer

Anywhere from a couple of weeks to a few months. Once a design has been approved, we place the order for the granite (if we don’t have it in-stock). Most standard shapes are in-stock at the granite supplier and may take less than a month to get to us. If it’s a custom cut or a rare color, or if it’s during the "rush" before Memorial Day, it might take 2-3 months for the granite to arrive.

Once it arrives, we can craft it and set it within 1-2 weeks. Of course, there are variables that could get in the way, but we try hard to get it set as soon as possible.
