Would-be robber denied money by clerk

Larry Brown was arrested Monday night after authorities said he tried to rob a Columbia convenience store.

COLUMBIA -- Columbia Police arrested a man Monday night after an attempted robbery at a convenience store.

 

Police said just before 9:30 p.m. Larry Brown entered the Breaktime Convenience Store at 301 Nebraska Ave. holding a tire iron in his right hand demanding money.

 

Authorities said the clerk refused to give Brown money.

 

Brown then left the store in a silver Cadillac with Missouri license plates.

 

Joint communications determined the Cadillac was registered to Larry Brown.

 

Officers found Brown on the lot of Award Pet Supply, on I-70 Drive Southwest just before 10:30p.m.

 

Brown was wearing the same clothing that he was wearing at the attempted robbery and he was identified by the clerk at the Breaktime.

 

Brown admitted his involved in the attempted robbery and was arrested for first degree robbery and armed criminal action.
