Early morning robbery at Columbia motel

 COLUMBIA, Mo. – Columbia police are releasing information about a motel robbery that happened early Saturday morning in Columbia.

Police say at around 4:24 A.M, they were called to the America's Best Value Motel at 1718 Providence Road North after an armed robbery was reported there.

They say the suspect was let in by a motel clerk after he started knocking on a locked door. After the suspect was let in by the clerk, the suspect pulled out a handgun and demanded the clerk for money.

The clerk was able to escape from the robber and call 911. Once officers arrived at the scene, the suspect was gone, and was not able to be tracked by a K9 unit.

The suspect is reported to have stolen a laptop computer, but no money. No one was injured during the altercation.

The suspect is described as a black male with a thin build, last seen wearing a blue jacket, colored pants, and a lightly colored scarf covering his face.
