WHAT IS PROPANE?
Liquefied Petroleum Gas (also known as LPG) is turned into a gas inside a tank or a cylinder. In its natural form, propane is completely colorless and odorless. To make it possible to detect propane in the event of a leak or spill, a chemical compound is deliberately added to give it a distinctive smell.
Some Key Benefits:
Environmentally Friendly- easily meets the EPA’s clean air energy standards. It is also nontoxic and insoluble in water. Because it is released as a gas, it doesn't spill, pool, or leave a residue. A gallon of propane burned produces about half the carbon dioxide (CO2) as a gallon of fuel oil. Traditional tank electric water heaters produce 150 times the greenhouse gas emissions than a propane heater
Versatile - used for a wide range of residential applications: central heating, cooking, drying clothes, water heating, pool and spa heating. Propane fireplaces and hearth products offer great space heat solutions and are among the most popular appliances sold today.
Reliable - Almost 90 percent of all propane is produced right here in the United States. Plus, with some propane equipment, even when the power is out, many propane-fueled homes are nice &warm.
Efficient - costs less and works harder. Propane appliances have a shorter energy savings payback period and burn hotter and more evenly than many other fuels. A propane gas furnace will last an average of 20 years compared to the 14 year life span of an electric heat pump. Plus it cost less to repair a propane gas furnace.
Propane can be installed in any home no matter what type of fuel source is currently being utilized.
Approximately 90 percent of the propane used in the US comes from North American sources.
