MILLER COUNTY -- There are new details in a case of a Miller County five-month-old baby girl recovering from physical and sexual abuse, allegedly at the hands of her father.
She is said to be doing better at University Hospital in Columbia, but it could be months before doctors know if she'll fully recover.
Also today, prosecutors changed the charges against her dad.
Aaron Fisher, 21, of Brumley could now face life in prison because of a new Missouri law aimed at protecting young victims.
He is charged with first degree assault, child abuse and two counts of forcible sodomy.
A conviction on the forcible sodomy charges carries a mandatory life sentence without the possibility of parole.
Investigators said Fisher admitted to abusing his infant daughter after watching a pornographic video.
She needed emergency surgery to repair internal hemorrhaging and a fractured skull.
The girl's mother now faces charges as well.
Samantha Lynn Widman, 21, of Brumley is charged with two felony counts of child endangerment.
Doctors believe the infant had multiple broken ribs from previous abuse, and investigators said the home had dangerous and unsanitary conditions
Widman's two-year-old boy is currently in the custody of the state.
