Ed Blaine and Andy Russell Are Back Together AgainBlaine, a former Missouri Tiger and NFL player with the Packers and Eagles first learned to “do a good turn daily” as a Boy Scout before putting on shoulder pads and knocking opposing players to the ground. The All Big 8 and All America honoree is being recognized as a Distinguished Eagle Scout November 6 at 7 p.m. by the Boy Scouts of America.Blaine’s Missouri teammate, Andy Russell, who played linebacker for the Pittsburg Steelers will deliver the keynote at Blaine's dinner.The Distinguished Eagle Scout Award is presented to men who earned the Eagle Scout Award at least 25 years prior, distinguished themselves in their life work and shared their talents with their community through volunteer service.Blaine, a professor of physiology and pharmacology at MU has served as Director of MU’s Dalton Cardiovascular Research Center, and directed research work for G.D. Searle Research and Development, Renal Pharmacology and Merck Institute for Therapeutic Research.With this award Blaine joins astronauts Neil Armstrong and Jim Lovell, former President Gerald Ford, Congressman Ike Skelton, former Congressman Richard Gephardt, Secretary of Defense Robert M. Gates and Wal-Mart founder Sam Walton as a Distinguished Eagle Scout.# # #
