The Student Athlete of the Week is designed to recognize those young men and women who epitomize what the definition of student athlete is. He or she may not be the best or most recognized athlete on the team or in the sport but is a great example of someone who has balance between academics and athletics.

Criteria:
  • Must be a mid-Missouri high school senior playing a varsity-level sport
  • GPA must be 3.0 or higher
  • Student must attend high school in the KRCG 13 viewing area (as defined by KRCG 13)
  • Athlete can be nominated by a coach, athletic director or teacher who can provide examples or reasons why the student athlete should be recognized

How it works:

Local educators nominate student athletes that exceed the above criteria. Students are then picked by KRCG to be named the Student Athlete of the Week. Students are showcased during a weekly sports segment on KRCG 13 and on our website.

When the school year comes to a close, KRCG 13 viewers will vote for two student athletes of the week  who will each receive a $1,000 scholarship.
