What role do genes play in my risk for Alzheimer’s disease?

With keynote speaker

Dr. Alison Goate

Professor of Neurology and Genetics

Washington University School of Medicine

Genetics and Alzheimer’s disease are once again in the spotlight with the recent

discovery of three new possible genetic risk factors for dementia. Identifying genetic risk factors will help improve the diagnosis and treatment of Alzheimer’s disease in the future…

but what about today?

Join us as we host Dr. Alison Goate, a top researcher in the field of Alzheimer’s and genetics, and learn how genes affect everyone’s risk for AD. Dr. Goate is internationally renowned for her work reporting the first mutation linked to an inherited form of Alzheimer's disease. Since that initial discovery, Dr. Goate and colleagues have identified mutations in four other genes, including two that cause Alzheimer's disease and two genes that cause a related dementia.

Registration: $15 before Nov. 4 ($20 at the door). To register, go to www.alz/mid-missouri or call 573-443-8665. Special thanks to LSS Lenoir Woods and KRCG for sponsoring this event.
