Capital 8 and Forum 8 are giving you a rare opportunity to see some of the top documentaries on the film circuit right now. Who knows, maybe this year you can actually know something about those Documentaries that are up for Oscar awards. "Documentary Days" kicks off on Monday, September 10th with "We're Not Broke", an expose into the how the government has allowed U.S. Corporations to avoid paying taxes over the years. "We're Not Broke" tackles a very prevalent subject matter in this political season and shouldn't be missed.

Following "We're Not Broke" this upcoming Monday, Capital 8 and Forum 8 will bring you six more documentaries on every 2nd and 4th Monday of every month at 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. This is a very rare opportunity, especially for Jefferson City theater patrons.

On September 24th, "Detropia" will explore the woes of the city of Detroit and how they compare with the collapse of the American manufacturing base as a whole.

On October 8th, "The Ambassador" will take a somewhat funny, but serious look into the blood diamond trade. Danish journalist Mads Brugger goes undercover, posing as a European Ambassador to try and get a rare look into the highly dangerous world. This one has already received many rave reviews.

On October 22nd, "Last Call at the Oasis" will give us a look into the world water shortage. Some of the best documentaries are the ones that make you think and contemplate something you didn't even realize existed.

On November 12th, "Booker's Place: A Mississippi Story" will explore a prior documentary that was filmed in 1965 by Frank de Felitta about the race struggles in the Mississippi Delta. While filming that documentary, a waiter named Booker Wright spoke his peace and he suffered repercussions from a surprising group of people. Frank de Felitta's son Raymond returns to where his father filmed his documentary to see how the community was effected for years to come.

On November 26th, "Side by Side" uses directors like James Cameron, James Fincher, David Lynch, Martin Scorsese and many others to examine the history, process and work-flow of both digital and photochemical film creation.

Finally, on December 10th, "The Island President" is the story of the people of the Maldives, the lowest-lying country in the world. Its President, under a brand new democracy is fighting to keep his homeland from being swallowed by the rising sea.
