Mark Slavit began his professional television career at KCBJ-TV in Columbia in 1983. The station became KMIZ-TV in 1985. He then left KMIZ for KRCG in 1988.

For more than two decades,  Mark has covered thousands of stories in the Mid-Missouri area. He's covered visits from four Presidents. He's traveled to Washington D.C. where he spent some of the first days in office with Senator Jean Carnahan. Mark has interviewed many celebrities including Arnold Schwarzenegger, Red Skelton, Chuck Berry, The Beach Boys and William Shatner. He's been to two Superbowls, The World Series, The Insight.Com Bowl, and playoff games in several professional sports. From 1989 until 1996 he reported a weekly series called "Made In Mid-Missouri" which highlighted manufacturing in our area. Mark traveled to New York City with Missouri Task Force One and reported on the destruction of the World Trade Center in the days after the terrorist attacks on September 11th, 2001. Mark has won numerous awards over the years including several from the Missouri Broadcasters Association competition.

Today, Mark is the Columbia Bureau Chief in addition to the Mid-Missouri Traveler. Between covering the top news for Columbia Mark visits interesting people and places around Missouri. Mark Slavit enjoys his job and the people he meets everyday.
